Accessibility Statement

Futurapt is committed to making career guidance accessible to everyone.

1. Our Commitment

We believe that access to quality career guidance is a universal right, not a privilege. Futurapt is designed and maintained to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards, ensuring our platform is usable by people with diverse abilities, including those with visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities.

Our commitment includes a quarterly audit cycle where we test the Platform against the latest accessibility standards, incorporate user feedback, and publish remediation reports. We view accessibility as an ongoing practice, not a one-time checklist.

2. Standards and Conformance

Futurapt targets the following accessibility standards:

  • WCAG 2.1 Level AA: Our primary conformance target, covering perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust guidelines.
  • Section 508 (US): Used as a secondary benchmark to ensure broad international compatibility.
  • Kenya Persons with Disabilities Act, 2003: Compliance with Kenyan accessibility requirements for digital services.

Testing methods: We use a combination of automated tools (axe, Lighthouse), manual keyboard and screen reader testing, and periodic reviews by accessibility specialists and users with disabilities.

3. Accessibility Features

Visual Accessibility

High contrast color schemes, scalable fonts up to 200%, and full screen reader compatibility. All images include descriptive alt text and decorative elements are hidden from assistive technology.

Auditory Accessibility

Text alternatives for all audio content, visual indicators for notifications, and captions where video content is provided. No functionality depends solely on audio cues.

Keyboard Navigation

Full keyboard accessibility for all interactive elements with logical tab ordering, visible focus indicators, and keyboard shortcuts for common actions throughout the Platform.

Motor Accessibility

Large clickable targets (minimum 44x44px), support for alternative input methods including touch and voice, and generous spacing between interactive elements.

Responsive Design

Platform works seamlessly across devices and screen sizes. Content reflows at 320px width without horizontal scrolling, and touch targets are appropriately sized for mobile use.

Cognitive Accessibility

Clear and consistent navigation patterns, plain language throughout the Platform, predictable form behaviors, and error messages that clearly describe the problem and suggest fixes.

  • Major (significant barrier): Resolved within 30 calendar days.
  • Minor (degrades experience): Addressed in the next quarterly release cycle.

Known issues include: some AI-generated chart visualizations lack full text alternatives (being addressed Q2 2026), and the AI Career Coach chat interface has limited screen reader announcement for real-time responses. Both are actively being remediated.
